Dear Parents and Caregivers
Please be advised of the following key dates and notices for your information.
1. Monday 24 October | Labour Day weekend
Please note that with Labour Day on Monday, this means that Friday 28 October we will be open for instruction for all students from Years 9 to 13. They will be following their normal Monday timetable on that day, starting with Mentor time at 9.00 am.
2. Staff Only Day | Tuesday 15 November – Year 8 Induction Day
We will be holding a Year 8 Induction Day on Tuesday 15 November for all enrolled Year 8 students. We are inviting students from Pakuranga Intermediate to join us between 9 am to 11 am and from other local intermediates to join us between 1 pm to 3 pm. Our Induction Day will be an opportunity for us to start to get to know our enrolled students and ensure that we can best support them and their learning needs when they start at our school. There will be no school on this day for current 鶹 students.
4. NCEA Staff Only Days | 24 and 25 November
鶹 will be closed for instruction on Thursday 24 November and Friday 25 November for a NCEA Staff Only Day. This is to allow all staff to participate in NCEA Professional Development for the significant changes that are coming from 2023. There will be no school on these days for all 鶹 students.
5. School events this term
Senior Prizegiving | Tuesday 1 November
We look forward to celebrating our annual senior prizegiving on Tuesday 1 November. The event will start at 6.30 pm in the Hall and invitations to all senior prize-winners were sent out on Tuesday 25 October.
Senior NZQA Examinations | Start Wednesday 2 November
During this time, senior students will focus on completing NCEA external examinations. Examination slips will be handed out to all senior students who are entered for external examinations later this week.
Junior Assessment Week | 14 November, 16 to 18 November
During this time, juniors will be completing internal assessments and examinations. There will be a timetable for this week which students will receive from Mentor teachers the week prior.
Junior Prizegiving | Thursday 8 December
We look forward to celebrating our annual junior prizegiving on the morning of Thursday 8 December, after which the junior students will be released for the Christmas holidays.
6. Other important notices
New timetable for Junior students (Years 9 and 10) from Term 4, Week 4
From Week 4 of this term, we will be returning to a full Monday to Friday onsite timetable for all Year 9 and 10 students. We will be keeping with our four 75 min sessions a day and students will be issued with a timetable for the Fridays in Week 4. Please support all our junior learners in helping them transition back to full learning onsite for the remainder of the term.
Pātaka Kai
Many of you may have noticed our new Pātaka Kai that was designed and created by our Year 11 Social Studies students. This was formally blessed and opened last Friday, and we welcome all members of our community to take and/or make donations from this pātaka. Please ensure any donations are non-perishable and do not include Meat or Dairy products. My sincere congratulations to these students and their teachers on this awesome addition to our EC community.
End of Term 4
Senior students' last day for learning onsite is Tuesday 1 November. Junior students' last day for learning onsite is Thursday 8 December.
Senior Transcript and Junior Academic achievement Report
Senior students and Parents will receive a complete Senior Transcript in Week 3 of this term and junior students and parents will receive an Academic achievement report in Week 8.
Start of 2023 dates
We will start 2023 with our course confirmation day for senior students from 9 am to 12 pm on Wednesday 25 January. Term 1 will start on Tuesday 31 January with the following dates:
Term 1: Tuesday 31 January - Thursday 6 April
- Tuesday 31 January - Teacher Only Day
- Wednesday 1 February School starts for Y9 and 13 students
- All students on site – Thursday 2 February
Please note the following public holiday dates for Term 1: Auckland Anniversary on Mon 31 January, Waitangi Day on 6 February and Good Friday on 7 April.
